The world is a complex place and cannot be explained in a single, pointed thesis. This is clear to me and it is also reflected in my experiences in political work for more than 10 years.

I grew up in the district of Gifhorn and studied political science and Christian journalism (Diploma) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg before earning a degree in public affairs & leadership (MBA) from Quadriga University Berlin.

Afterwards, I worked as an office manager for MEP Dr Renate Sommer. This is where I learned more about the processes and structures of European Parliament – especially ‘my’ Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.

In 2011, I started working for the Bundestag as a research assistant to Ewa Klamt.

After a brief family-related hiatus, I returned to active politics in 2018 and successfully ran for the office of MEP for the CDU in Lower Saxony.

Since 2019, I have been an MEP for the European People’s Party group (EPP) in Brussels.

I am painfully aware that unity and peace in Europe are not self-perpetuating. Although it strengthens us economically, stands up for human rights and consumer protection, and contributes decisively to our social development, Europe is facing growing criticism and challenges. The world in which I grew up, the world of international cooperation, has been shaken up since Brexit and we are now at a crucial fork in the road. If we want to make sure our children do not inherit a world in which only the law of the strongest applies, and populist shortcuts become the basis of government actions, we must act now!

I want to do my part. We owe it not only to our children, but also to those who realised the idea of Europe before us. This the reason why I am actively involved in European politics.
